Joanne Mizzi
Artist
Art is my passion and the force that fuels my spirit. I’m an artist inspired by color and beauty, and through my work, I explore the depths of my inner world. I began my journey as a self-taught artist, experimenting with different mediums such as oil, acrylics, pencils, and ink. Lately, I’ve focused on ink—a challenging medium where every line must be precise.
My work mainly focuses on two subjects that fascinate me: expressive portraits and the unique charm of Maltese architecture. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of taking part in many group exhibitions and holding six solo shows in respected venues. These experiences have helped me grow as an artist and connect with others through my art.
A special highlight of my journey came in October 2022, when one of my paintings was presented to Pope Francis at the Vatican—an honor I’ll always cherish. My artworks have also reached audiences in France, Italy, Egypt, Mexico, the USA, and the UK, and can be found in various offices and well-known restaurants across the
island.
In my studio, I find peace in solitude, surrounded by music and the sounds of nature. Whether it’s sunlight filtering through the window or the distant rumble of a storm, these moments inspire my creations. I also enjoy wandering with my camera, capturing architectural details that later become part of my artwork. Each piece I create is a reflection of who I am—my thoughts, emotions, and love for art.
