Rune Bo Jakobsen
Artist
Rune Bo Jakobsen is a Danish-Maltese artist and architect celebrated for his vibrant, light-infused paintings and public works. Based in Central Malta, Rune runs the JAKOBSEN Art Studio & Gallery in Birkirkara, where guests encounter his bold streetscapes, expressive portraits, and experimental architectural pieces.
Rune’s unique style, which he calls Reactive Impressionism, is a reaction to our environment. With bold hues and layered brushstrokes he captures the hidden colours in the shadows and the golden glow of Maltese limestone His architectural background subtly surfaces in occasional pencil drawings or text, adding another layer of intrigue to his art.
Over the past decade, Rune has held numerous solo exhibitions, and his work has been acquired by private collectors across Europe, Japan, the USA, and Australia. Notable public artworks include Olive Twist, a stainless steel landmark inspired by Maltese silver filigree, and the bronze Embryonic Horse, inaugurated in Floriana in 2024.
With over 25 years of experience as a warranted architect (Perit), Rune’s creative vision bridges the gap between art and architecture. His multidisciplinary practice is grounded in a deep respect for the environment, heritage and spatial harmony—qualities that consistently shape both his art and his design projects.
